Description

Nike - The victory.
The Nike is one of my favourite statues of the ancient Greek. I tried to take a original shot of it when I visited the Louvre...

First of all I want to say that this photo is very inspiring for me and I truly believe that not only I would like to name it as a masterpiece because it exactly is a talented shot photo.

Now to the main photo. Place. Beautiful place was chosen for taking the photo. Nevertheless we can't see some very rich decoration, ornaments and some bright colors that could draw our attention this place truly is interesting, I may even say intriguing. With a lack of those entire things, that I have mentioned, this place still to be intriguing because of that very unusual architecture. Rear arches are like they are forming one of the other, like some incessant wave made from stone! The play of light on the front arches and the lack of it on the back arches makes that effect like these two parts aren't connected or aren’t having anything in common at all! For me this is already very clever idea of the artist to take a photo in this kind of place.

Light. I am speaking so much about the light in this photo not only because I find it a truly good move of the photographer. The idea of having a lot of light in this picture very nicely supports the idea of having the silhouette of angel in it too. Regardless of the small amount of light in the background, there is a lot of the lighting in front, so the picture is perfectly illuminated and we can see every detail!

Statue. I can not thank the author for the splendor of this statues look because I believe that this statue was made long time ago and not by this artist, so it will be a little digression. Angel is very realistic! The way all his clothes "soar on the wind" is an incredible indicator of how talented the sculptor was (or is). To make the hard stone look like some materials (clothing, skin and feathers) is absolutely outstanding work in my opinion!

Going back to the photo. Because we can not see the face of the angel we can only imagine that he's looking on the window in the top with desire to be somewhere there...His wings are straightened and he is ready to fly away from this world; but he'll never do it because all earthly things that binds us with this earth (in his case it would be stone) so we can't run from it and from ourselves. Returning to the architecture, the style how the ceiling is made makes that effect like the window, through which light pours, is nearer to us the ceiling by itself. Outstanding contrast!

I want to say one more time thank you to the artist/photographer who made this picture. I believe I won't be the only one in loved with your talent and how you show ordinary things from our life through the lens of your camera!

With all my respect.
